Slightly Used

I find the glazes, techniques and process of watercolor exciting. Lack of control is part of the joy of discovery with the medium. Choosing subject matter like this shovel which has followed me through many a garden project, many a home relocation presents a challenge to me. This common, ordinary tool calls out to be painted with the marvelous and luminous techniques I love so much in the watercolor medium. Studying a simple object like this challenges me to really look at what my subject matter is, rather than dash off something with little thought.
